Reviews:

"This unabridged recording...is pure delight...the humor and subject matter are a perfect fit. ...Dana Lubotsky...portrays Minnie and other characters with style ...Minnie has decided to open a detective agency. Her brother/guardian Orlando is not so sure she has the necessary skills, but she has two friends who are willing to help her solve her first mystery ...The audio quality of the tape is very clear and the musical score enhances the story. Readers from the second grade to sixth grade will enjoy Minnie and Max in this amusing story." —School Library Journal

Ten-year-old Minnie is footloose and fancy-free for the summer. With no homework to do and no school schedule to adhere to, she decides to set up a detective agency to solve crimes, real or imagined. Lubotsky actually sounds credibly childlike, reading with innocence and exuberance. Her excitement about every "clue" she unearths conveys realistic youthfulness. However, many cats and characters make this story complicated for 4-6th graders. A.G.H. (c) AudioFile, Portland, Maine
