Grades 2-5 For today's children, who experience much of their day online and in virtual settings, working with a group of peers can be stressful. As a result, these titles in the Working Together series (5 new titles) aim to provide students with social and emotional skills needed to contribute and collaborate successfully. Each volume simply describes several realistic conflicts in a group setting and how a young person solved the problem or accepted the outcome. Large color photos of children from diverse races, ethnicities, and religions depict the scenarios at hand. Advocating for Yourself emphasizes learning to communicate one's needs and being assertive, while also being kind, within a group. The books complement one another, highlighting empathy, being mindful of others, and working towards a goal across each topic. While adult intervention may be needed for full comprehension, concluding discussion questions and writing prompts can help facilitate it. A useful series among the growing resources for SEL.
